Mom Life

Marty took a sick day today. It's weird how covid has changed things though...because even though he took a sick day he was still able to attend a work meeting and do some other work from home. At first, it was weird having him home because I feel like our apartment is my workspace during the day. But it ended up working out just fine! 

Emi and I went to Pickle ball. It's fun because I'm getting to know the ladies better and am having more fun playing the game. Today I left Emi in the care of 3 year old Ezra and 5 (maybe 4?) year old Finley. Normally there's a person or 2 sitting out, but today we had just enough people to fill 2 pickle ball courts. I watched as Ezra ran away from Emi toting his mom's bag and items with him (because Emi was trying to eat them) and Finley made a fort with chairs around her and was watching YouTube. I felt bad for Emi because she was the kid no one wanted to be with.haha. After a few games she had a meltdown and just wanted me to hold her. Honestly, I could kind of see why. haha. No one wants to be the kid who's left out! When I came home and told Marty what happened he just laughed and said I was reading way too much into things. haha. I guess that's just what moms do! 

Other than that Emi and I went on a walk (super windy!!) and we had Little Caesars for dinner (Contrary to popular opinion I think Little Caesars is so yummy!).

Nick's Fish House

We went to the breakfast buffet at the Fairmont in the morning. My favorite part is loading my plate with all the yummy fruit they have. (Papaya and Hawaii just go together.) Emi loves clenching her fists and making a funny, strained face. haha. We took a walk down to the beach before heading to Twin Falls. It was pouring rain when we got out of the car at the start of the hike, and I wondered what the rest of the hike was going to look like, but it ended clearing up at just the right times. I love how Emi has curls in Hawaii. On our way back we stopped at some food trucks and came back to relax before dinner time. For dinner we went to Nick's Fish House. This place is special to Marty and I because it's where we got engaged (and their Macadamia Nut brownies are top notch which adds to the special-ness). In the evening we went back to our hotel room and watched an episode of "The Floor" before heading to bed.

Last day in Paris

We scheduled a tour for St. Chapelle, Conciergerie, and the outside of the Notre Dame for this morning. I mostly just wanted to see St. Chapelle, but because we've been so busy seeing other things, when I went to get tickets on their website they were sold out. Luckily I found a tour through "Get Your Guide" that we could do that would take us through the chapel this morning. Marty and I arrived for our tour this morning and started making our way to St. Chapelle as a tour group when we found out that the employees of St. Chapelle were on strike so nobody would be seeing St. Chapelle for the day. It was a bummer, but strikes are very common in Paris. Really we just lucked out getting to experience an important part of their culture ;) With our tour canceled, we made our way to Sacre Coeur and Montmartre. The basilica reminded me a lot of the pretty churches in Jerusalem. The one thing Marty and I found odd was that there were signs all over inside the chapel asking guests

Marty! Lizzie!

Emi and I went to Chuze in the morning and then went to the park after with friends! Ronny, Jules, Evi, Isla, and Emi (of course!). We tried out a new park, Spearwood, and the kids liked it. Emi and I stayed a bit longer after everyone left and she made a new friend. It was this cute Chinese boy whose name sounded kind of like "Ethan." Anyway, his mom was doing the sort of thing all moms do at the park--cheering on their child as they try to climb up a ladder or try something new--but in Chinese. She was doing this, and then the most interesting thing happened. Emi started imitating what the mom was saying. It was so cute! Even though there was a language barrier between the mom and I, she could also tell what Emi was trying to do. It's amazing what the brain can do--especially children's brains. They are like little sponges! Anyway, I just thought that was really cool. On another note... Emi's started calling Marty and I by our first names half of the time. Today
