Japan!

We made it to Japan! The plane ride went better than expected which we were so grateful for.

Our first flight took off from Salt Lake at 8 am, and we arrived in Seattle around 9 am (with the time change). Emi did okay but not great on that flight. A flight attendant did give her her sky wings, which I was super excited about. haha. I've been waiting for her to get some! That same flight attendant also asked to hold her which was cute. After the flight, a gentleman told us that the first flight with a baby can be tricky with elevation change.haha. That just goes to show that flights with babies can be unpredictable--even if they've flown before!

I feel like this sums up Emi's personality. A lot of cute with a little crazy.

The second leg of our flight was the one we were dreading the most. It was supposed to be 10 hrs 45 min, but by some miracle we found out it was going to be an hour shorter! Emi was an absolute champ. She slept some, played some, and made friends with all the flight attendants. They loved getting to hold her, and one asked if she could take a picture of Emi. So cute! During the flight, Marty also watched "Get Out." He's told me the premise before, and it's freaky and messed up so I told myself I wouldn't watch it...but you know how it goes when someone next to you watches a movie on a plane...you end up watching it. I didn't want to watch it, but it was too intriguing not to (especially because Marty had subtitles on).

Then we made it to Japan! Feeling as good as you can feel for traveling with an 8 month old. We waited a while for customs, and grabbed all our stuff. We tried not to pack too much, but by the time you add in all sorts of baby stuff it ends up being a lot. Trying to get to our hotel was a bit rough due to lack of sleep and being in a new place. We ended up just taking a cab to our hotel--I would for sure do that again with a baby. Easy peasy. By the time we made it to our hotel it was 4 or 5 and we were starving. We put Emi down for the night, and Marty went and grabbed us conbini food with all the essentials. Onigiri, coolish, black thunder, cabbage and dressing, egg sandwiches. So grateful to be back in this beautiful country that I've missed so much.
