Shaeffer Resort and Spa- Guest Writer

Hi all! This is guest writer Marty talking about our Friday in Pagosa. We got in at a pretty good time the night before but it was really really nice to sleep in til about 8:00 since Emi had a bit of midnight fun with Grandma and Grandpa the night before! Usually she doesn't sleep in no matter how tired she is but we were lucky!

We had a pretty slow morning, my dad made pancakes for us and we played with Emi and chatted with my parents. At around 10:30 AM, Emi had eaten two breakfasts and snacks and was ready for a nap. Lizzie decided to take a nap with her and my dad and I used the gym. Later that day, Lizzie and my mom took Emi for a walk and my dad and I took off on an ATV ride. We crossed over the river (it was kinda dicy) and went up on top of this plateau that overlooks the confluence and the three cabins, it was pretty cool and was a spot that I had never been to before!

That evening, Lizzie and I had an excellent time enjoying the Shaeffer spa! I was in the sauna, then in the bathtub and then in the steam shower - it was amazing! Lizzie loved the bath.

We played a round of Azul and Quirkle that evening (we didn't get outside for a campfire until Saturday night) and then went off for an early bedtime, seriously it was so nice to have such a relaxing long weekend!

Nick's Fish House

We went to the breakfast buffet at the Fairmont in the morning. My favorite part is loading my plate with all the yummy fruit they have. (Papaya and Hawaii just go together.) Emi loves clenching her fists and making a funny, strained face. haha. We took a walk down to the beach before heading to Twin Falls. It was pouring rain when we got out of the car at the start of the hike, and I wondered what the rest of the hike was going to look like, but it ended clearing up at just the right times. I love how Emi has curls in Hawaii. On our way back we stopped at some food trucks and came back to relax before dinner time. For dinner we went to Nick's Fish House. This place is special to Marty and I because it's where we got engaged (and their Macadamia Nut brownies are top notch which adds to the special-ness). In the evening we went back to our hotel room and watched an episode of "The Floor" before heading to bed.

Many Oopses

This morning Emi and I headed to Home Depot to get our fridge ordered. Marty and I really had 2 fridges we liked, and so I tried calling my mom because she's the cooking queen and would be able to help me make a decision...but she didn't answer. Darn it different time zones! So I made the decision. I hope we like it! Then we stopped at the car shop on the way home. Yesterday my car started just being super bumpy on the freeway and something seemed wrong. When we showed up at the shop, there were all these husky guys that you might imagine at a car shop, but when they saw Emi they became these big marshmallows. They were all telling me about their kids and it was so cute.  Turns out there is something wrong with my car, and so I have an appointment to get it fixed on Friday. Last day in Paris

We scheduled a tour for St. Chapelle, Conciergerie, and the outside of the Notre Dame for this morning. I mostly just wanted to see St. Chapelle, but because we've been so busy seeing other things, when I went to get tickets on their website they were sold out. Luckily I found a tour through "Get Your Guide" that we could do that would take us through the chapel this morning. Marty and I arrived for our tour this morning and started making our way to St. Chapelle as a tour group when we found out that the employees of St. Chapelle were on strike so nobody would be seeing St. Chapelle for the day. It was a bummer, but strikes are very common in Paris. Really we just lucked out getting to experience an important part of their culture ;) With our tour canceled, we made our way to Sacre Coeur and Montmartre. The basilica reminded me a lot of the pretty churches in Jerusalem. The one thing Marty and I found odd was that there were signs all over inside the chapel asking guests
