Race Day with Guest Writer Marty

Hello! This is Marty, back again for another guest post!

Saturday was the first race day for Nick, we gathered the entire immediate Shaeffer family - as well as a whole bunch of extended family - to go and cheer him on. I think it was actually a surprise for Nick that we all showed up but he didn't act super surprised haha.

The race was exciting, we sat up next to the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca which is this really cool piece of the track where the cars start heading down this big hill that they just climbed, so it combines two small double turns with a pretty steep downhill grade, the cars were super loud and it was awesome getting to see them rip through, and even cooler seeing NICK rip through there in his signature tiger stripes. After the cars would exit the corkscrew, we would run up a few feet to a nearby hill that overlooked the rest of the track to see how the rest of the race was going.

Nick drove super well, was on track to take the 10 spot, until one of the last turns. The whole track was slowed down during a yellow flag and everyone bunched up, when they got the green flag, they all went in to the turn pretty tight together. A car came and rear ended Nick pretty hard spinning him off the track and unfortunately, ended nick's chances at getting into the top 10 - we were very impressed by how Nick handled this disappointing finish!

After the race, we all went back to the sweet AirBNB that my parents rented, got some pizza and just hung out with all the family that came out for the race. We had a great time chatting, and my cousin Reese was so excited to play with Emi, and Emi loved every second of it! Emi was staying up past her bedtime every night and not taking great naps, but was still just the sweetest girl as always.

Once the night started to wind down, I thought it was really nice to just have the whole Shaeffer clan together getting to chat, it's crazy because Lizzie and I both felt that we hadn't seen them in forever, even though we were just all together in Hawaii back in February.
Check out these cute pony pjs grandma and grandpa got Emi in London.

Thanks again for letting me stop by and be a guest writer here on the Lizzie show! Til next time!
