Ice Caves and a Wild Night

Marty and I watched the kiddos in the morning so the adults could go explore without having to worry about little ones.

After they got back, we headed to the ice caves. It was a lot of fun!

Then we came back for lunch and pretty soon Deb and Jaran B. had arrived with Macy and Rylin. The rest of the afternoon consisted of hanging out and getting ice cream at the General Store.

Kimber and Drew made yummy Thai Curry for dinner and afterwards we did S'mores around the campfire.

Emi really latched onto Rylin today. Rylin is such a sweetheart--she's being so patient with all the little kids!

After all the kids were in bed, the adults were sitting around talking when Jaran noticed a mouse just staring at us from the fire place. We made it our goal to trap the mouse. We literally sat around the fire place for HOURS. I can't even understand how we sat there for so long but it was crazy! We learned that mice (at least CO ones) like the old fashioned traps better than the new ones. I'll let the pictures show the rest. Also, Jason and Kirsten B. arrived tonight! The crew is all here.

This picture was taken at 10 pm. I feel like we had already been sitting there for awhile trying to trap the mouse before this picture was taken.

Dying at Marty with the binoculars! We all watched mouse come and eat the cheese off the old fashioned trap and it didn't set it off.

Jason and Kirsten arrived! Jason has killed mice in the double digits and knew how to use floss and a cheerio to make the trap more effective.

10:54 pm. Still watching the mouse scurry around.

Starting to think of other solutions.

11:12 pm. We started the fire place (I can't remember if this was our first or second time. I think it was the second). The mouse still lived!

11:50 pm. Jason adds PB to the trap. We're convinced the mouse is already full from eating the cheese and the S'more bite Deb gave it (she's an animal lover).

1:45 am. Marty and Lizzie call it a night! We still hadn't caught the mouse when this picture was taken. Drew, Deb, and asleep-on-the-couch Jaran were in the living room until 2:30 am and caught the mouse in a vent (although we're not sure how to get it out of said vent).

  1. So glad the mouse was entertaining. Ha! And dying because the only reason I can think of a mouse being so determined to stay in one place is its protecting something!! No! (Love that you had a mouse catching expert in the crew!)
