Pagosa

 Started out the morning with Kevin H. and Mike P. on a run. We went 7 miles and it felt good! 

After I got back, we started getting everything packed and headed out the door (and showered of course!). We were picking up our Chick-fil-A breakfast when I realized the Great Harvest Bread I got for our trip yesterday was sitting in the freezer at home (Uggh!), so we headed back home to pick it up...and then we were on our way! The drive went great, the fall colors were beautiful, and we arrived at camp in the afternoon close to the same time as Kimber and Drew B.

We hung out, ate pizza, and then took the kids on a ride to the Schoolhouse for sunset. It was chilly, and Emi was not happy about wearing her helmet or riding with dad, so I ended hopping on on their ATV mid-ride...and she still wasn't stoked. Meanwhile, Bowen and Marlow were having a grand old time! haha. We ended up taking off Emi's helmet and I sung songs to her the whole ride...which made it bearable for her. 




Sunset was sooo pretty! It changed from pink to orange hues as we drove home.

We headed back to the ranch after sunset, got the kids ready for bed, and then hung out. We played "Silver" together which was fun. Close to midnight, the Ryan and Summer P. crew arrived. And then we all headed to bed.

Nick's Fish House

We went to the breakfast buffet at the Fairmont in the morning. My favorite part is loading my plate with all the yummy fruit they have. (Papaya and Hawaii just go together.) Emi loves clenching her fists and making a funny, strained face. haha. We took a walk down to the beach before heading to Twin Falls. It was pouring rain when we got out of the car at the start of the hike, and I wondered what the rest of the hike was going to look like, but it ended clearing up at just the right times. I love how Emi has curls in Hawaii. On our way back we stopped at some food trucks and came back to relax before dinner time. For dinner we went to Nick's Fish House. This place is special to Marty and I because it's where we got engaged (and their Macadamia Nut brownies are top notch which adds to the special-ness). In the evening we went back to our hotel room and watched an episode of "The Floor" before heading to bed.

Last day in Paris

We scheduled a tour for St. Chapelle, Conciergerie, and the outside of the Notre Dame for this morning. I mostly just wanted to see St. Chapelle, but because we've been so busy seeing other things, when I went to get tickets on their website they were sold out. Luckily I found a tour through "Get Your Guide" that we could do that would take us through the chapel this morning. Marty and I arrived for our tour this morning and started making our way to St. Chapelle as a tour group when we found out that the employees of St. Chapelle were on strike so nobody would be seeing St. Chapelle for the day. It was a bummer, but strikes are very common in Paris. Really we just lucked out getting to experience an important part of their culture ;) With our tour canceled, we made our way to Sacre Coeur and Montmartre. The basilica reminded me a lot of the pretty churches in Jerusalem. The one thing Marty and I found odd was that there were signs all over inside the chapel asking guests

Marty! Lizzie!

Emi and I went to Chuze in the morning and then went to the park after with friends! Ronny, Jules, Evi, Isla, and Emi (of course!). We tried out a new park, Spearwood, and the kids liked it. Emi and I stayed a bit longer after everyone left and she made a new friend. It was this cute Chinese boy whose name sounded kind of like "Ethan." Anyway, his mom was doing the sort of thing all moms do at the park--cheering on their child as they try to climb up a ladder or try something new--but in Chinese. She was doing this, and then the most interesting thing happened. Emi started imitating what the mom was saying. It was so cute! Even though there was a language barrier between the mom and I, she could also tell what Emi was trying to do. It's amazing what the brain can do--especially children's brains. They are like little sponges! Anyway, I just thought that was really cool. On another note... Emi's started calling Marty and I by our first names half of the time. Today
