Estes Park- Guest Writer

Hi readers of Lizzie's blog! This is Marty back for another guest post, today I have the pleasure of touching on our day trip to Estes Park, Colorado. Estes Park is the name of a town and is not in fact a park, although there are parks in the town undoubtedly. It sits right outside of Rocky Mountain National park and is a beautiful little mountain town. We left early in the morning and drove for about 90 minutes to go to a small farm before getting to Estes Park where we met up with friends and had some amazing apple cider doughnuts and got a bunch of apples and pears. It was excellent! We also got to hear all about Katye and Matt's trip to Disney World and now Lizzie wants to take Emi to Disneyland.

Lizzie here--I got bit by a wasp at the farm and my arm started swelling up bad!

After leaving the farm, we drove for another half hour or so while listening to conference to get to Estes park. We walked around the town, looked in some shops, and let the kids play in the bouncy house at the mini fair the town was putting on. The friends we went with have a son almost exactly Emi's age and they play pretty well together. It was just so nice being in the mountain air and walking around on a Saturday. We also ate a lot of sweet treats from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and from the taffy shop - we also got to see the Stanley Hotel which is what inspired The Shining!

After a nice morning/afternoon in Estes Park, we headed home while listening to conference again, but we made sure to stop at Buc-ees since we were so far North. Buc-ees is a humongous gas station chain that just opened a location in Colorado, previously they were all only in Texas. I got a shirt, a tumbler, and we got some fudge and beef jerky. You haven't lived in Colorado until you've been to Buc-ees.

We closed out the evening with some delicious BBQ from post-oak, and we were able to get a deal so it wasn't even too expensive. As we walked back to our cars after dinner, Emi and her friend were holding hands as they walked down the sidewalk and it was so so cute! It was such a nice day with our friends.

  1. Please tell me that this is Bowen. If not, I suspect there's a love triangle happening.
