Welcome to New York
It's been forever since I last posted, and I don't want to skip over all the amazing things that have happened the past few months, but it's just too daunting at this point to catch up on everything...so I'm just going to have to get over it and start somewhere.
We moved to NYC!!! I still can't believe it. We had the best support team getting us here from CO->UT->NYC, and are now comfortably in our apartment.
Mom helped us pack up in CO. She even painted our fence in CO before we left! |

At the SLC airport before heading to JFK. |
*Not pictured: Dan helped figure out my flights from Co to Ut when I was about to have a breakdown because our flight kept getting delayed (He got back surgery while we were in Ut or else he would've come out to NYC). Courtney and Michael for helping us find our apartment and understand all things NYC.
It's been very toasty and I'm getting all the throw backs to being on a mission in a hot and humid place. Except I'm so glad I'm not out knocking doors all day!
We've spent lots of time at parks and getting to know the UWS better. We've done many grocery runs and have started enjoying the amazing food options here.
Natural History Museum! Marty and I watched "Night at the Museum" together and it was very cute and fun. |
It's been nice to be able to load our stroller with all our food. I've learned that buying watermelon in the city is kind of the worst! haha. It's so hard to carry home/takes up all your stroller space. |
One of the best parts of our move has been having family nearby. We've spent lots of time with Courtney, Michael, and baby Marlie.
I'm not posting pictures of Marlie on here just for privacy, but I have a bunch of cute cousin pics that will go in Emi's yearly book! Also I think this photo is so sweet. This is Courtney and Marty walking side by side with their babies. They both lived here when they were babies. Such a cool full circle moment! |
I've had a few doctors appointments, and baby girl is looking good! They say she's measuring small, but I don't believe them because that's what I was told at every appointment when I was pregnant with Emi too (and she was 7 lbs 5 oz). We're ready for her to come whenever she is!
Emi and I are soaking in all this time we have with Marty before he starts school. I love having him around...it's made the transition so much easier! We'll miss having him here all the time when he starts school but I know he's so ready to start and business school's going to be a great fit for him.
Friends. I miss my CO friends a lot. But I'm hopeful I'll be able to make some new friends here. I'm trying to put myself out there and make friends before baby girl gets here so it's not so isolating when Marty goes back to school. I think Emi's also missing her friends. Preschool will be so good for her (the both of us really) and I'm hoping we can both make friends through her school.
Speaking of Emi...the transition here was hard on her. But she's finally starting to seem more like herself again which has been great. I'm worried we'll go back to where we were before when baby sister comes, but I honestly can't blame her for being out of sorts because she's had a lot of change recently. It's a lot to take in.
Marty's been working on Python and studying for the last CPA exam. He's also taken Emi on adventures and been helping out a ton at home.
Our place! More pictures to come. |
The lobby of our apartment. It's so charming. |
Scooters are a thing here. Lots of little kids have them! |
I spy with my little eye our POD! |
Marty walking through the city with our new rug. |
Emi got a balloon at the pediatrician which made her day. They had to prick her finger and she didn't even cry. She didn't cry the last time she got shots and I thought it was a fluke, but this girl is just tough I guess! She loves playing doctor, loves going to the doctors, and isn't bugged by needles. Future doctor maybe? |
It was pouring outside this evening and Emi was so excited to get to use her Minnie Mouse rain jacket she got with Grammy. Emi has asked Alexa to play "Welcome to New York" by Taylor Swift at least 10 times each day since we arrived here. She keeps saying "my room's been waiting for me!" |
Such a fun post and overview of your big move!
