General Conference Pt 2

Before conference we talked with Dave, Steph, and Ingi. They just got back from Reno and Vegas. Dave will be finishing up with residency next year and they were interviewing with some different practices there. They have worked so hard these past several years and I hope they get in with the practice they are hoping for! So good catching up with them. 

After we got off the phone with them we hopped onto conference. I loved President Nelson's talk about being Peacemakers. It was beautiful. I need to go back and listen to that one...and while I'm at it I also need to go listen to Saturday afternoon session because I fell asleep near the beginning. I was telling Marty the tricky thing about having a baby during conference is one of us has to be awake at all times because someone has to keep an eye on Emi. haha. Luckily she was napping so I felt like I had the go ahead to fall asleep as well. I woke up in time to hear Elder Stanfill's talk. I'm glad I did. He talked about perfectionism which I've struggled with at times. At the close of the meeting President Nelson announced more temples. I always love that part of conference. I get so excited! I'm always hoping for more temples in Japan.haha. Another temple in Yanai or Hiroshima or even Kyoto would be awesome. 

Other things we did today were go for a walk, play catch, and make Gram's Enchiladas. They're so delicious and filling! We also played 7 Wonders and Splendor online with Peter and Alex. Game night is something I always look forward to.

Nick's Fish House

We went to the breakfast buffet at the Fairmont in the morning. My favorite part is loading my plate with all the yummy fruit they have. (Papaya and Hawaii just go together.) Emi loves clenching her fists and making a funny, strained face. haha. We took a walk down to the beach before heading to Twin Falls. It was pouring rain when we got out of the car at the start of the hike, and I wondered what the rest of the hike was going to look like, but it ended clearing up at just the right times. I love how Emi has curls in Hawaii. On our way back we stopped at some food trucks and came back to relax before dinner time. For dinner we went to Nick's Fish House. This place is special to Marty and I because it's where we got engaged (and their Macadamia Nut brownies are top notch which adds to the special-ness). In the evening we went back to our hotel room and watched an episode of "The Floor" before heading to bed.

Many Oopses

This morning Emi and I headed to Home Depot to get our fridge ordered. Marty and I really had 2 fridges we liked, and so I tried calling my mom because she's the cooking queen and would be able to help me make a decision...but she didn't answer. Darn it different time zones! So I made the decision. I hope we like it! Then we stopped at the car shop on the way home. Yesterday my car started just being super bumpy on the freeway and something seemed wrong. When we showed up at the shop, there were all these husky guys that you might imagine at a car shop, but when they saw Emi they became these big marshmallows. They were all telling me about their kids and it was so cute.  Turns out there is something wrong with my car, and so I have an appointment to get it fixed on Friday. Last day in Paris

We scheduled a tour for St. Chapelle, Conciergerie, and the outside of the Notre Dame for this morning. I mostly just wanted to see St. Chapelle, but because we've been so busy seeing other things, when I went to get tickets on their website they were sold out. Luckily I found a tour through "Get Your Guide" that we could do that would take us through the chapel this morning. Marty and I arrived for our tour this morning and started making our way to St. Chapelle as a tour group when we found out that the employees of St. Chapelle were on strike so nobody would be seeing St. Chapelle for the day. It was a bummer, but strikes are very common in Paris. Really we just lucked out getting to experience an important part of their culture ;) With our tour canceled, we made our way to Sacre Coeur and Montmartre. The basilica reminded me a lot of the pretty churches in Jerusalem. The one thing Marty and I found odd was that there were signs all over inside the chapel asking guests
