Father's Day in Pagosa

Image
Today was Marty's first father's day! Emi is one lucky girl to have a dad like Marty. I love how Marty's such a playful dad and how he's so sweet with Emi. I love when Marty and Emi are in one room of the apartment, and I'm in the other, and I get to hear him be all cute with her. I can't help but smile.  We spend the day driving to Pagosa for the Adair Family Reunion. Emi did really well on the drive! Per Marty's request we stopped at McDonald's in town before driving to camp. When we arrived everyone was so excited to see Emi. We sure love her, and we're glad there are other people who love her so much too! Lunch/Dinner and McDonald's This is what happens when you let a baby play in the front seat haha At camp, they had all these posters up with each of the names of the father's on them in the family. Then people went around and wrote nice things about each person. Such a cute idea!

House and Cello

Image
It's been a crazy busy Saturday for us! In the morning I had running club and then the bulk of the day we spent at the new house. There is more work that needs to be done than we anticipated so it seems we'll be busy for the foreseeable future. We ordered a dishwasher, washer, and dryer and grabbed a few random items from Home Depot. Marty also had the good idea to get plug in scents from Bath and Body Works to mask the pee smell for the time being.  Emi in her new room! After a busy day of house work we rushed off to a cello concert hosted by someone in our ward. It was refreshing to hear beautiful music and have a fun event to go to! Homeowners--with keys!

Image
Lizzie:  We got the keys to our house today! Yay!!!  Only downside is that it smells like dog pee:/ Marty: Good news and bad news. The good news is we finally can start moving into the house! We have the keys! The bad news is the house has a bit of a stench - dog pee. So after debating over the next few days we decided that we would have to rip up all of the floors and carpets and replace them. We won't be able to have people come take on our project for a few more weeks which means we can't quite start moving in too much stuff yet. I'll let Lizzie say more about all of the work getting done to the house and just tell you more about the day we actually got the keys. We were finally able to get a babysitter. One of the young women in our old ward agreed to babysit and it was so nice to get away from Emi for a short while. We were originally planning on going to Fogo de Chao but this was the most convenient time to meet with the people to get the keys for the house. The walkt...

9 months in, 9 months out

Image
Emi is 9 months today! This was the first pediatrician appointment where she didn't have to have shots which makes for a happy mama and baby. She enjoyed sucking on her toes throughout her appointment, and I enjoyed getting to hear her different percentiles. As usual...big head and small body. Which I think makes her so cute and perfect.  The doctor also said we can let Emi practice drinking out of cups. We gave her a sippy cup today and it is so. cute. watching her drink out of one. In the evening I went to bunco which is always fun. I had the most buncos but also the most losses. Funny how things work sometimes!

Grumpy Emi

Why does Emi have the cutest grumpy face? haha

FaceTimes and House Stuff

Figured out the electrician situation today. The electrician we're going to use said to not worry about his work interfering with the paint and to go ahead and get paint done Saturday. This was all said over phone call, and he hasn't seen the house so I'm just trusting that he knows what he's doing more than I do. haha. Emi and I had a phone call with Emily C and Avvie. So fun getting to catch up with Emily and see cute Avvie. Avvie kept saying "baby" and Emi loved seeing another little person.  After talking with Emily and Avvie, Mom called and we chatted about all things house and Greece. Main takeaways from our convo: you're going to have things you don't like about any appliance, always pay people to trim ornamental trees, pest control 4-5 times a year, bosch dishwashers are the way to go, make sure there isn't a coin in pockets when doing laundry.  This evening Marty and I could not find an important check that we need to shred when we get pos...

Adulty things

Today Emi and I met with painters to get bids on some things we (Marty and I) want done in the house. It was fun getting to see the house again! I was a bit nervous because the previous owner was working from home, but it ended up working out great. In fact, she was able to tell me areas in the house that should be re-painted--areas like the garage door (Without her I wouldn't have discovered that until after getting things painted) and she was able to set up appointments with the painters that I met with. (They get the keys to their house tomorrow and she wants some things painted in their new house.)  I ended up finding a painter I really liked who could get us in his schedule on Saturday! After meeting with painters, though, I discovered some rooms were missing lights on the ceiling. After having that in our current apartment, I've decided that is a must-take-care-of item. So I'll be calling electricians tomorrow and seeing if it's okay to get paint first or if we ne...
