Birthday Preparations

Image
Emi helped me make her birthday cake today! We are so excited to celebrate our princess this weekend. Emi opened her birthday present from Takemura San today. The card she's holding sings "Happy Birthday" and she was very excited to listen to it over and over. In the evening I had a baby shower for my friend, Annie, and then Marty and I stayed up very late finishing Emi's birthday cake...and listening to "Silent Patient." I started the book yesterday, Marty started it today, and I think we'll both finish it by tomorrow. We're hooked!

Happy Birthday to one of my number one blog readers, Angela! I feel like I lucked out in the MIL department. I look up to my MIL so much and think the world of her. Everyone who knows her loves her. She's kind, a great listener, welcoming toward everyone, and fun. I'm glad I get her as my bonus mom. This evening Marty watched Emi so I could go to a RS garden party. It was nice getting to socialize with the different ladies in our ward. I love where we live!

Yoga and Ice Cream

Tonight we did yoga for YWs. We had a great turn out and the girls loved it. I made Dan's berry smoothie and the girls thought it was so good. We ran out before I had some, so I went home and ate a bowl of ice cream instead. haha.

Infertility

I've been wanting to post about infertility for awhile now, but it's just taken a bit to get here. Marty and I are coming up on our year mark of trying to grow our family. I thought by this point we'd have another little one in our home or that I'd at least be pregnant--although that's not the case. And it hurts that that's not our reality. I've shed many, many tears and have felt raw emotions that can be overwhelming at times. I've had feelings of anger, jealousy, disappointment and mostly sadness. It's been stressful and heartbreaking.  It's been really hard. Knowing that this is part of our journey and that things will work out definitely helps, but it's still hard. Going through this has given me a chance to rely on others and be more empathetic towards people who also face infertility. I'm grateful for Marty as well as friends and family who have listened, let me cry as I've tried to process, and been there by my side. Prayer has...

B School

As of today, Marty has 3/4 Business School Applications submitted! And I just finished Emi's Year 2 Book for her birthday. Big things are happening over here!

Cake

I was in charge of making a cake for a Amber H.'s baby shower today! I made a lemon cake with raspberry buttercream and a white chocolate ganache. It was yummy! Next time I think I'll leave the lemon zest off the top of the cake--I think it'd be cuter with just raspberries.

Cutest Drool Monster

Today at the store, a cute gentleman asked "Is she (Emi) teething?" I said "Yes." He replied "Let the flood gates open." I had to take a picture of Emi's shirt when we got home! He was totally right. I guess I've just gotten used to lots of drool. I also captured this cute picture today. Emi loves brushing her teeth with dad! In other news, the cabinets came for our master bathroom vanity today and they are perfect. I love them so much! Now we just need our contractors to start on our bathroom project so that the cabinets won't have to sit in our front room for the next 6 months...
