Girls Trip!

Image
Missy, Lesley, and I have been meaning to have a girls trip for quite awhile now, but with kids etc. we haven't been able to make it happen up until this point. But after a bit of craziness, we finally found a time to make it happen!  We started our girls trip with brunch at Sunday's Best in Sandy. It had a very cute pinteresty vibe. After brunch we went to get pedicures together! We did a quick Swig run, picked up Blaire from Missy's mom's house, and headed to the mall. It was fun getting to go on a little shopping spree and get some cute things! Missy and Lesley have cute style, too, so it was also helpful having their insight into what looked good/didn't look good. Then we headed to dinner at my parent's house. My friends came over to eat at my house a lot in high school, so we put this in our schedule for good ole times sake. We had a whole spread of yummy food and lemon ice cream with almond lace ice cream bowls for dessert and it was delish! After dinner w

Emi made her way to the living room without me noticing this morning, and when I came to find her she was just sitting content on the floor reading her book! She's such a cutie. Emi at breakfast this morning. "Rub rub rub." Yogurt and lotion look very similar! Nick and Camille had a good time at their concert last night and they even played Camille's favorite song which she was excited about. The morning went by quick, and pretty soon it was time to take them to the airport! It's been fun having them here for a few days. I'm bummed we didn't take any pictures!  Emi and I dropped them off and came home for a few hours, and then it was time for me to head to the airport for my girls trip! Emi got to play with her bestie Jules while she waited for Dad to pick her up for a "Daddy's Weekend." At the airport I had the most exciting surprise. Peter and Alex had baby #3 this morning. I got a call from Peter at the airport and he said there's a na

This and That

Nick, Camille, and I had a slow morning. We ate a big breakfast together, hung out with Emi outside, and played a few games. Emi giving her friends a lift. Nick and Camille headed to Denver in the early afternoon, and Emi and I got some to-dos crossed off our list.  In the evening, we had a YW meeting at our place. It went well and we were able to accomplish a lot!

Uncle Nick and Camille

Emi and I soaked in the warm weather this morning! After her nap time, we picked Uncle Nick and Camille up from the airport. They came out to see Lord Huron at Red Rocks and are staying with us for the next few days! From the airport, we took a brief stop at home to pick up Marty (who got home from Pagosa 30 min before we arrived) and headed to Torchy's. It was yummy as usual!  After we got back, we played hearts before Nick and Camille headed out to a movie together. While they were out at their movie, Marty and I caught each other up on our weekends!

To-Do's

Mom went home this morning. I wish she could just stay one or two more days, but I'm glad she was able to come out! On a different note, sometimes I feel like my life is one long to-do list (and I'm not mad about it! Because I love lists).  I had a lot to get done today, and I noticed tonight that "John Mayer" made it on to my to-do list. haha. I have no idea when I wrote that down! Our current fridge situation. Sourdough update! Roasty toasty made his appearance today. Despite burning the top a bit, the middle of the loaf is perfection. I'm excited to try another loaf again soon!

Missionaries and Baking

Image
I made it back to Denver just in time to take a quick shower and head to church. They had the service missionaries in our area speak for sacrament meeting and I was so touched. They were the most kind, humble missionaries I have ever interacted with. Both missionaries have had battles with their mental health, which felt close to home to me. As someone who has faced similar challenges, I know how hard it can be. Yet they were so optimistic and humble.  For YWs we invited the sister missionaries to come do a question/answer type-lesson with the girls. They were so cute and fun and all the girls seemed to really enjoy it! They also loved the cookies that my mom, Sophia, and I made the other day. In the evening we went over to my friend Summer's house to learn how to make sourdough. It is a very technical process, but I'm excited to make a loaf!

Moe and Matt's Wedding

Image
By 9:30 am I was in my rental car at the Boise Airport headed to Emmett, Idaho. I felt so grown up going on a trip all by myself. haha. I went out for the day to go to my friend's (Moe's) wedding. Marty and I served with Moe's sister, Mika, in both the MTC and our missions. She was always someone I loved getting to catch up with when we saw each other during transfers, etc. but we were never comps. Fast forward post-mission and I ended up in the same class as Mika's sister, Moe, in Japanese 301. We became friends, and when we learned we were both going to BYU Jerusalem we requested to be roommates! We became really good friends and have stayed in touch ever since. So when Moe invited me to her sealing, I was really excited to get to go! I arrived in Emmett at one of Moe's family's friends house. Sonja and Todd W. were so gracious to let me and another one of Moe's friends stay with them. Sonja totally reminds me of Clegg Shimai and is the sweetest! I took a

Marty left in the morning! So it's just us girls now. Today was all about plants. Marty and I (more Marty than me) have been working on weeding our yard this week in preparation for having my mom here. I was hoping to tap into my mom's expertise while she's here! I am super excited about all we were able to get done today. Because Marty and I don't know how long we're going to be here, I didn't want to spend too much on pots/etc. if we may be moving to a big city in just a year or 2! So we tried to make due mostly with what pots we had (even though they're not the cutest), but brighten everything up.  Before. Before. I should've taken a picture before this bed was weeded. It was bad! During. During. During. Our little assistant. Emi loves being a helper! After After. My mom had the idea to add vines to this arbor to make it look better! After. After. We put new soil in and I think it turned out so cute! After. We were going to do stringing lights out her

Emi and I have been frequenting library story time recently. She loves it and it's so cute! The theme for the library's summer reading program is "Flock to the Library." They put up signs with a bunch of cute signs/etc outside the library that fit in with the theme, and it makes Emi's day every time we go. Her favorite are the ones with "mingos" (flamingos) on them. She also loves waddling like a penguin every time she sees the penguin sign.  After story time, Emi and I took a stop at the mall to do a return. With a little prompting from Marty, I have decided it's time to re-vamp my closet haha. After my return, I looked around the mall and found 1 store (I'm not kidding) with blouses that worked with garments. It was a little bit pricey, but had several cute tops (Evereve). I kept thinking of my poor YW who are trying to find cute clothes that are less revealing, and the options are so limited. In Utah there's so many options--Bohme, Roolee,

Splash Pad

Image
After workout class today we went to the park with Summer, Ronny, and Jules P. The park had a splash pad, and the kids LOVED it. It felt just like summer to me (until it rained an hour or two after we came home)! In the afternoon we went to our Family History lesson with Kate D. and Bob L. I was able to find another missing ancestor on my tree! In the evening Marty and I watched "While You Were Sleeping"--a rec I got earlier in the day from Bob and Kate. It was cute!

Rain Boots

Emi put on her rain boots all by herself today! Where does time go? It feels like I just had a little baby and now she's a toddler.

Social Bug

Image
This morning we went to church in town. We sang baby songs the whole way there, and listened to them the whole way back. In between, at church, Emi enjoyed hanging out with Grammy and Papa and then near the end of Sacrament Meeting she decided that she wanted to hang out with another family that had more exciting things to offer. She sat on the mom's lap and just made herself right at home! haha. That is totally Emi's personality. She's such a social bug and I love it. She also made sure to loudly say "Aaano" (amen) after the Sacrament prayer. She keeps us laughing! We headed back to camp after church, ate some food, and Emi, Marty, and I took naps. Pretty soon it was time to go to the airport! But not before a game of Skip Bo. Marty and I napped on the top bunk together. It was so fun! I felt safe since Marty was on the outside. Emi did great flying home in her carseat. And then we were home. Emi and I played outside while Marty made dinner.  We had such a fun we

Leisure

Image
Everyone did their own thing this morning. Marty and Dan went golfing, Nick and Camille went on a Ranger ride, and Angela kindly watched Emi while I went for a run!  Emi loves Grammy and Papa. I did the loop and it was beautiful. I told myself I wouldn't walk which kept me motivated and challenged! It's just over 4.5 miles starting at the ranch and has some steep parts. I learned that eating breakfast burritos before a run is not the move...I'll remember that for future visits! After everyone got back, we ate lunch and hung out, and then put Emi down for a nap and Marty and I hung out. And then after Emi woke up, while Dan and Angela worked some more, Marty and I took turns driving with Emi on the ATV and then went for a drive in the Bronco (sorry I'm realizing writing this now how we should've been better at helping haha). Riding in the Bronco while listening to music is one of my favorite things to do in Pagosa! In the evening, big Marty, Erin, and JD came over fo
