Family Pictures

Image
A brief interruption from Pagosa updates because we got family pictures back tonight! And I love love love how they turned out. We had Cassie Rogers (one of my friends from Young Mom's Institute) take our photos again. She took Emi's newborn pictures and she did such a great job, we asked her to take these ones too! Our perfect little girl. We love this little one. Emi is always "sharing" different things with us. I love that we had a photo to capture that! I requested these pictures of Marty throwing Emi because he always throws her up in the air and I think it's so cute. Isn't the scenery so pretty in all the pictures?! This photo reminds me of what kind of dad Marty is. So playful and fun...and Emi just loves how he is playful with her! A dad and his girl. Emi's baby blues. This picture also reminds me of what kind of dad Marty is. He's playful but also loving and sweet. Love my family. One of my favorites. Those chunky thighs kill me:) Tongue! My

Pagosa

Image
We woke up, finished packing, stopped at Chick-fil-a for breakfast (it was actually pretty good tbh!), and headed to Pagosa. By some miracle, we didn't have to stop for anything except our initial Chick-fil-a run! Go Emi:) Emi was so happy to get out of the car and crawl around :) In town we grabbed some groceries and a pizza and headed to the ranch. (I printed out a grocery list last night and it made grabbing everything so much easier! I will be doing that every time from now on). After we made it to the ranch we ate dinner, put Emi down, and waited for Missy, Kyle, and Miss Gracie Dot to arrive. We're excited to spend the weekend with them (missing Lesley and Doc but hopefully next time they'll be able to make it)!

Palisade Peaches

Another look at the door. They're here!!! Palisade Peaches. Last year we got 1 box, but that lasted only a week. So this year we made sure to get 2 :) Zoo with Allison C. and Steph K. Allison and I grew up playing violin together in RMS and she went to Olympus with Marty. You never know when you may cross paths again with people in your past!

Random

Emi and I had a bunch of returns to take care of today. Home Goods, Kirklands, and Target. We also went to baby story time, and long story short we were supposed to meet her friend there but her friend and her friend's mom never showed. Turns out they got pulled over on the way there, and due to an overdue registration their car ended up getting towed. I felt so bad!  For lunch Emi and I went to Panera Bread, and the high school girl in front of me went to pay and didn't have quite enough to cover her lunch. She was shocked when I offered to pay for her and kept asking to make sure it was okay with me that I paid. The cash register later told me that it was very cool of me to do that. They honestly made me feel like a hero when it wasn't that big of a deal. haha. But I was glad I could be there to help out! Shout out to Marty for working hard so I can spend our money ;) In the evening, Marty worked on getting our security cameras set up. Today has been the most random day!

Running and New Door

Image
I was just pulling out of my driveway to go to Waterton Canyon for a run this morning when I saw Karin and Paige H. from the ward running by. I rolled down my window and told them I was heading out for a run, and they invited me to come with them. They are faster runners than me so they were nice and pushed Emi for me the whole run! It was fun to learn a new route and to get to chat with them as we ran. She's such a cutie. The rest of the day Emi and I hung out at home since we had our patio door getting installed. I didn't realize what an intense process replacing a door like that is until I saw our worker working hard all day long to get it done.  I LOVE this door. The blinds between the glass is a game changer. In the evening we went on a Costco run and ate dinner there too! Can't forget that it was Grandpa Dan's birthday today! Something that I really admire about my father in law is how humble and kind he is. He is very successful in his profession which I feel lik

Socializing and a Storm

Image
This was my first week in Young Women's! It feels like a total throw back and I'm so excited to be there. Marty was asked to sub for nursery today with Brother R. and they were able to hold down the fort with the little ones. Emi threw her teething crackers in the toilet today. Kinda gross but she loves the toilets. haha. In the evening we had dinner with the Galadriel and Wade H. and Kevin and Stephanie H. families from our ward. It was a lot of fun and we enjoyed socializing and getting to know them better!  After we put Emi to bed we played Dominion with Peter and Alex online and tried some new expansion cards. Sunday nights are always good excuse to play games and catch up! We had a crazy lightning storm tonight! Our garbage can was all the way down the street because of the all the water in the gutters. Marty went and saved it but I was so worried about him in the storm.

Waterton Canyon and Family Pictures

Image
This morning may have been one of my favorite runs ever. We went to Waterton Canyon and it was beautiful. I'll have to take Marty and Emi back there sometime. It reminded me of the Cottonwood Canyons but without cars.  Just bikers, hikers, and runners. Wide road. Beautiful views. Subtle incline. My knee hurt from mile 8-12ish. I kid you not, it's like clockwork. Almost every run I get to mile 8 and my knee just starts throbbing. But it did okay from miles 1-8 and 12-16 so I'll call that a win. I want to do this marathon soooo bad.  The smile of a girl who just did 16 miles! I'm so proud of my body. I literally couldn't walk normally for a few months after giving birth (just ask Marty)...and now less than a year later I'm running farther than I've ever run. The afternoon consisted of prepping for family pictures. I got our outfits all ready last week but forgot to get myself shoes that matched the vibe and I also wanted to get my hair curled. (Yes. It's s

Cake and Deep Clean

Emi and I went to story time in the morning. I was surprised how bashful she was at story time because she's not usually that way at My Gym, but I guess she's so used to My Gym now she's able to get out of her shell more. Going to story time reminded me of how cute it is and how I want to go more often.  Matching with my baby girl. She loves doing this. haha In the afternoon Emi and I had a cake delivery. In our old ward they had a fundraiser auction, and so I auctioned off a coupon to cash in for a personalized cake. A grandma in the ward ended up buying it and she reached out to me to make a cake for her granddaughter's birthday. I had a lot of fun making the cake and when I went to deliver it she asked me to come in and chat for awhile. She's so sweet and by the time I left we had agreed that we'd have to meet again.  Vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and strawberries on top. The transportation. In the evening Marty and I deep cleaned the kitchen and livi

Garage Door

Image
Marty didn't end up getting home until after midnight last night, so Marty and I are a bit exhausted today. (It's super hard for me to fall asleep without him here, so I always end up busying myself with things when he's gone late.) In the morning, Emi and I went for a walk with Heather and Adelaide J. from the ward. We started walking when I remembered that I might have left my phone on top of my car. haha. Then my watch beeped at me that we were out of range from my phone...so yes. We turned around and headed back towards where we started and there my phone was just sitting on top of my car. Sometimes I wonder where my brain is.haha. The walk was fun, though, and I enjoyed getting to know Heather better. She was so sweet, too, and gave us Adelaide's hand me downs for Emi.  After our walk I drove home and went inside when I thought to check the garage door. Welp. It was stuck and beeping. I hadn't pulled in the car far enough and so it was mad at me. I tried watchi

Outside

Emi and I hung out with Bowen this morning while Kimber got her nails done. For part of the time, we went to the park but because our stroller only fits one child, Bowen rode in the stroller and I put Emi in the front pack. To get to the park, we walk past the rec center, and I had many endearing looks from parents. haha. One lady stopped to ask how old they both were. I'm sure they were all thinking I'm a rock star for having a 1 and 2 year old haha. But nope! Just one is mine.  Park Crew Then Emi and I worked on the pantry together. Putting labels on things just hits different.haha. I love it and can't wait to order more for the different areas in our house. A large part of me wanted to sit down with a tape measure and measure every label out perfectly on each container. I have a tendency to do those sorts of things, but I tried to resist the urge and just be okay with eyeballing everything. They just look so good! It's beautiful :') The Prestige Property guys tex

Hair and Cake

Today Kimber watched Emi so I could go get my hair done. It's honestly a game changer to have someone that I trust to kid swap with.  Both before and after my hair appointment we had the Prestige Property guys sanding and re-texturing our walls. I swear we're keeping them in business with all the work they've done for us. They've been doing such a good job, though, so we're happy to use their services. Marty had a late night with work stuff tonight. There's some guys from Chatham's office in Kennett in town and so they're doing a couple bonding things this week. Today was rock climbing. So while he was gone until about 9, I was busy making a cake for a birthday later this week and chatting with Bubs and Mom.

Young Women's and Peach Cobbler

Image
Last night I prayed that I'd get called into Young Women's in our ward. I've wanted to be in Young Women's pretty much from the time Marty and I got married. Growing up, I had so many influential Young Women's leaders who were in their 20's that were such great role models to me. I also had great leaders who were older, too, but the younger leaders just seemed closer to my stage in life and so fun and hip. haha. It's also nice to have people who don't know all the drama about different girls and can just come in and love you without knowing "such and such about this person" and "such and such about that person." Anyways, I wanted to be just like them. Even now, I still look up to them.  Welp. Marty and I got a text to meet with the Bishop, and I am going to be in Young Women's. I am over the moon excited. And terrified. Like what if I don't live up to their expectations? I'm so imperfect...but I want to be a good role mode

Guest Writer

Image
Hi everyone! This is Marty guest writing last Saturday the 19th on Lizzie's blog. Saturday mornings are my time to get some daddy daughter one on one time with Emi. Lizzie has running club and has to leave at 6:30. I usually wake up with Lizzie, send her off and then spend time playing some videogames in the morning. Emi wakes up around 8, I get her dressed and then we go to My Gym! She always has a lot of fun and it's fun for me to get to do a fun activity with her rather than just killing time around the house in the morning.  We usually get home around 9:45 from My Gym and Emi plays in the kitchen while I make pancakes. Emi loves her pancakes and so do I. I always use the bisquick mix so its super easy. Emi and I listen to music, hang out and eat up while we wait for Liz to come home. Liz comes home around 10:30, we get Emi cleaned up and then she goes down for a nap once Lizzie has finished her shower. Once Emi and Lizzie are both down for their Saturday naps, I get a quic

Date Night

In the morning Emi and I went out to breakfast with some friends from The Outlook. Emi ate an entire piece of Kneader's french toast by herself...I was impressed! In the afternoon we went to Kirkland's to grab some house decor. I found some cute things for the table that I'm excited about! I'm becoming a regular at several stores in our area as I try to furnish our new place.  In the evening, Marty and I got a babysitter so we could go...couch shopping! It was much easier to focus on shopping without a baby who demands our attention. We ended up finding "the one" but are going to go back tomorrow when it's not close to closing time to seal the deal. We ended up coming to a compromise on the couch we chose. Marty agreed to let me have a fabric couch (instead of leather), but in return he chose the couch and the ottoman (vs a table). I also got to choose the color and fabric for the couch as part of the bargain. And I think we're both happy with how it&#
